Highlights 2008/09.

  • Progressed our strategic partnership with Mission Australia to deliver energy audits and other support services to a cumulative total of 113 hardship households in South Australia since the program’s inception in October 2007
  • Donated more than $120,000 to AGL charity partners through the Employee Giving regular payroll donation initiative (including both employee donations and AGL matched dollar-for-dollar contribution)
  • Contributed to the winter energy bills for 171 crisis accommodation services, funding the equivalent of over 83,000 warm winter nights for homeless Australians
  • Continued our partnership with WWF-Australia by supporting their efforts to set up a management strategy for the preservation of marine turtles in far northern Queensland, whose future is threatened by the impacts of climate change
  • Raised in excess of $40,000 for AGL charity partners through employee-organised fundraising events (including both funds raised and AGL matched dollar-for-dollar contribution)
  • Provided more than 1,272 hours of volunteering services, conservatively valued at over $89,000, an increase of 87% from 2007/08
  • Funded energy audits and the implementation of energy efficiency measures for six crisis emergency accommodation services in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia
  • Opened the AGL Information Centre in Burra, South Australia, to engage with the community on the wind farms AGL operates in the area and those under construction and in development
  • Donated $30,800 over the 2008 calendar year through the AGL Hallett Wind Farm Community Fund for a range of local community projects
